How excited are you that Big Hero 6 is out on DVD? In our house we are very excited! To celebrate, I thought it would be fun to make some movie themed treats, snuggle and watch this awesome movie (again!). We saw Big Hero 6 over Christmas break with nieces and nephews for the first time. I cried, it is THAT good! I also cried at the end of Toy Story 3. And Up. What is it with Disney that pulls our heart strings??
The first treat, Japanese “sushi”, pays homage to Hiro and Tadashi’s heritage.
Cast of ingredients all purchased at Target
4 cups of mini Marshmallows / 3 tbls Butter / 4 cups of Rice Krispy Cereal
Melt butter and marshmallows over low heat until melted, add cereal. Mix until fully combined. Spread out on a cookie sheet about 1/4 inch thick. Allow to cool slightly
“Sushi” fillings:
You can be creative and use any kind of candies you’d like. I used Red Fish gummies, sour worms, fruit roll ups, licorice and mini m&m’s.
Cut a strip of the krispies about 4-5 inches wide, add your candies and roll about once around. You don’t want it to be too thick. Then cover the rolls with a sheet of the fruit roll ups.
Then cut into nice slices.
Since there are so many kinds of sushi I thought it would be fun to use the jumbo marshmallows I had in the pantry. How cute are these?
Cut the marshmallows into slices, cut the fruit roll up into long strips to hold the fish in place.
Baymax Popcorn Balls- Cast of Ingredients:
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, plus more for buttering hands
1 package miniature marshmallows (10 ounces)
1/4 cup light brown sugar, firmly packed
3 quarts popped popcorn
Heat butter, sugar, and marshmallows on low heat until fully mixed. Add popcorn then mold it into the shapes you want. I made two cute Baymaxes and then, little Baymax heads
How do you spend you movie nights in? Hopefully with lots of sugar!
Lets not forget the drinks! Perfect for kids and adults!
Add a drop of purple food coloring and throw in some fresh raspberries! Yum!
Make sure you pick up Big Hero 6 available now at Target. You can find it in the DVD section where you see the Big Hero 6 displays.
We’ve been hit with snowstorm after snowstorm here in upstate New York, and a movie night at home sounds like an awesome idea for this weekend. I love all of the fun “sushi” ideas…perfect movie snacks! #client
I’m copying this for our family night. How did you draw the eyes on Baymax?
I used decoration gel/frosting you find it in the baking aisle. Its always by the frosting!
