I have a serious love hate relationship with McDonald’s I love their breakfast menu, hate everything else! I used to eat the sausage burritos everyday almost on my way to work when I worked on the Las Vegas strip. It was quick, warm, and kept me full for a decent while. Only problem was its not healthy and it gets expensive! The oatmeal though was by far my favorite and a while ago I started making my own version at home and I am sharing that with you today!
Breakfast is THE most important meal of the day, for me at least. Espeically now that I am pregnant I need something that is healthy and sustains me until about 12pm. I am sure you have read all the studies that show people who eat breakfast are less likely to gorge at lunch and dinner and have an easier time maintaing weight. I am just always starving at about 5am and need food, but good food ASAP!
4 basic ingredients, 5 minutes!
Coach’s Oatmeal is my FAVORITE ever. Its got a thicker grainer consistency, and does not get all goopy like traditional brands. It also has a smidgen more protein.
1/3 cup of oatmeal with 1 cup of boiling water (you can stove top or microwave, the cook time is the same)
1/8 cup of craisins
2 slices of apple chopped
1 -2 tsp of sugar & Cinnamon
When the oatmeal has about 1 min or less to cook I add the craisins to soften up
Then add the Cinnamon and Sugar
Pour into a bowl and add chopped apples. I sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon and sugar on top of the apples!
Breakfast is served!
Seriously, not exaggerating, this takes 5 minutes!! I start to boil the water, as it boils i cut up my apple, add the oatmeal, 4 minutes later I am sitting down catching up on Instagram and eating!
Delicious!
I personally think mine is better, ingredient wise and taste! You can add maple syrup or agave syrup as well, even regular raisins! I sometimes add banana!
Thanks for reading!
