I had the opportunity to attend WWD (Women’s Wear Daily) Magic here in Las Vegas. WWD Magic is a twice a year trade show for fashion designers and fashion brands to showoff their apparel lines. It is held in Las Vegas in February and August. There is 1 million square feet of show and unfortunately, it’s impossible to see everything in one day.
The show has speaking events, seminars and contests going on while thousands of buyers, designers, and creators collaborate on next season’s purchases.
My good friend and merchandise buyer for Zappos and I had the chance to meet up while she inspected brands, choosing styles for the upcoming season. It was fascinating to hear the lingo of costs, budget, turnarounds and what the specific buyer is looking for.
Our visit was with a brand called Yumi. They have a unique vintage-inspired look with a contemporary twist. They have marketed their brand globally as a trendy fashion must-have. Yumi stands for “quirky young design” and their attention to detail is immaculate. Their feminine silhouettes are fun, easy and offered at very attractive price points.
Next, we headed over to ENK, a show in itself, exhibiting Women’s Advanced Contemporary Collections, Denim, & Accessories.
We also visited the KAS New York exhibit.
I was blown away by this inspired designer’s attention to detail and his unique use of color. The clothing is made in India, cut, sewn and beaded by hand. It’s flawless. Please check out the site, their clothing is amazing!
Me, Lysandra and Kirat, owner/designer of KAS NY.
The decor at ENK was very tropical and reminded me I didn’t take an exotic vacation this year.
I LOVE Gorjana jewelry! The new designs and looks for next year are going to be amazing!
My outfit for Magic was to be as comfy as possible. Wedges and my favorite dress (got tons of compliments) and a jean jacket for when I got chilly.
I was so pleased to have met Kelsea from K.Slademade She makes beautiful handcrafted leather clutches and pouches. She was at the American Express booth for the Next Rising Star competition. She was competing against two other designers. She won! I was so thrilled. She is the sweetest most kind person ever. Her products are all amazing and so beautifully made. I hope to get my hands on one soon! See all her styles here www.kslademade.com
1 million square feet of a shoppers dream. Amazing designers, stylist, owners, buyers and influential people attended this year.
The infamous red magic carpet. Lined with models everywhere showcasing the designs for upcoming seasons. I was so thrilled to attend this year. I cannot wait until February to attend again. With the experience I had I will be a little more prepared next time. It is impossible to see everything you want in one day, hence its a three day conference!
