Two of my most favorite foods are guacamole and chocolate.
I can thank those wonderful Aztec foodies for that. They were the first ones to turn avocados into guacamole and cacao into chocolate.
So…
I’ve been on a journey trying to find the perfect guacamole recipe. The main ingredients are basically the same but it’s knowing your way around the special (even secret) additions that will make it your dip of fame.
We all think our guacamole is the ONE. There can be only one. No, no, just kidding. There is room for a 1,001 recipes for “guac”. But if family, friends and neighbors are begging you to make your dip for every party, dinner, or “dropping in” with a bag of tortilla chips, you can be fairly certain you have some killer guacamole.
So I am here to share my easy, delicious, guacamole recipe with you!
Here is my assemblage of ingredients:
3-4 ripe avocados
1 Roma tomato
1 bunch of cilantro
1 jalapeno
1-2 garlic cloves
1 shallot
2 limes
Kosher salt
If you don’t have these tools, get them. They will save your life.
Garlic Peeler – Seriously this is amazing!
Chop up the jalapeno, tomato and I use about 1/2 of the shallot.
I prefer shallots because they are milder and sweeter. They can be chopped up finer and I don’t waste a whole red onion.
This Herb Miller is another tool you NEED.
I HATE cutting herbs and I’m not good at it. This tool is easy and slices those herbs perfectly.
Grab your cilantro and let’s slice and dice!
I juice a whole lime. Sometimes, I juice a little more, but that’s me, I love limes.
Mash all the ingredients together and add salt to taste. That means you have to taste it so add more or less of what you want and make it your guacamole, but don’t eat it all!
Now, this is some killer guacamole!
Enjoy!
