Who are the Joneses anyway??? Why do we feel we have to keep up with them, or her?
What does she have that I don’t? Everything newer and better than the $100 worth of clothes I just bought (on sale, of course).
I fell in love with the idea of a blog where I could express all things girlie, be it make-up, clothes, products, crafts, you get the idea.
It was a personal outlet, a way to express and share creative ideas.
As I started getting more and more responses on my outfit posts, I thought, hmmm maybe I’ll focus on fashion. Sadly, I started comparing myself to other fashion bloggers. How do you keep up??? I wanted to, but seriously, not possible unless you get free clothes, you steal the clothes or you have a budget bigger than a mortgage payment.
Still…like the shirt I waited for from JCrew on line, it seemed already done and dated by the time I posted it.
Really? A shirt, brand new, already hanging on a Goodwill Thrift Store hanger?
This isn’t me.
I was literally trying to play catch up. Be more unique, more imaginative, BE MORE! I was looking at fashion bloggers “thinking” I had to be in that particular fashion league (expensive). And there are a thousand and one bloggers doing the same things.
Then I started exploring my closet, looking at clothes I’ve had for five years.
Yes! Five years!!!! Who does that, right? Normal girls! I started piecing things together, realizing I had a goldmine of unique fashion ideas under my very nose! I thought, “Why not showcase REAL LIFE outfits”? Take your closet and turn it into something that is authored by you, not a fashion blogger who posts way out of your income bracket. Write about how to shop smart and buy on sale ALWAYS. I’m the princess of finding top of the line for the least amount of money. This princess doesn’t really want the $900 sweater or the $1,200 shoes. Yikes! I wouldn’t wear them. I’d have to display them like a trophy.
I love pale pink, polka dots, gold and girlie. I love to put things together and make them wonderful.
I love makeup and creams, smells and those fabulous boxes all those wonderful products come in.
I want to blog about something or lots of somethings YOU would want to wear.
How do you feel about fashion bloggers? Do you love them? Do they make you feel out of their league? Do they inspire you?
Do you want something more relatable or do you love feeling like you’re window shopping?
Or are you really tired of the window and feel so deprived you want to throw a large rock?
FEEDBACK PLEASE!!
I think it’s very refreshing and reasonable to be a normal person blogger! Heart you!
Thanks friend! Love you too!
This is just awesome! Cheers to the Normal, budget-conscious (most of the time) bloggers! I just started this little blog of mine and already feel the competitive/keeping-up feeling and it just drains me. Of course we want to be successful in our lives and our blogs are no exception, but it can be difficult to remain true to yourself and what you can do with your means! I’m never going to have a 10, $1,000 handbags (I will buy myself a LV Speedy someday though!) and I cannot wear Jcrew collection everyday but gosh dang it I will rock those sale items that may be done and dated for others, but are still fresh and new to me. Style never goes out of Style! Thank you for sharing this post, it really hit home! <3
