Lashes to me are the curtains of the eyes! HAHAHA I bet somewhere someone actually said that. I don’t really think that. But I love lashes. I think they can be really beautiful and really ugly.
The only way they are ugly, is when you have gooed on mascara that clumps, flakes and causing all your lashes to become one giant lash. Like these below.
A while ago a make up artist convinced me that all mascara was the same, the drug store brands were just as good as the department stores. She said its all charcoal, so don’t spend $30.00 on it. I admired her honesty and willingness to not try to sell me a ridiculous tube of “Miracle lashes”
So, for the past 3-4 years I have religiously been using Maybelline Falsies mascara. $5.99 at your local Target. I was feeling pretty good on my abilities to save $$
Then I walked into Sephora when Benefit just came out with “They’re Real” mascara. It really did lengthen my lashes. I caved, and bought thinking I would only use it on special occasions. So I flipped flopped between these brands.
Then a girls day shopping trip with my Mother and Sister in law sold me on the DIOR Blackout mascara. My sister in law wouldn’t stop raving about it, we stepped inside Nordstrom where she did a side by side of her lashes with her drug store brand on one then her Dior on the other. BAM! just like that I was S-O-L-D! We each got 3 bottles! (it was buy 2 get one free)
I actually loved the black mixture of the product, it was supposedly the blackest mascara ever.
Well, when I got home I was having issues, it was wet, it was a PAIN to put on. I hated it. But I wanted to LOVE it so much! My sister in laws lashes were beautiful, why weren’t mine!!?!?
I couldn’t take it anymore. After another girlfriend with pretty long lashes said she had been using Lancome Definicils for almost 10 years, I traded in my Diors for the Lancome.
I am in love. I found it, I found my lash soulmate. So I started to investigate why certain mascaras that I used to love stopped being my crush. I am still researching. But I do know at one point I really loved these mascaras. Well. for one day I loved Dior, but I like to just put on my mascara with one wand, not 3 to de-clump, separate, and fluff. Just 2 swipes and I want to be done!
What mascara do you use? Do you have a favorite? I would recommend all of these, at one point they were favorite. But I like change. I like trying new things. I like to spend my money on stupid things. Obviously.
