“Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world.” – Marilyn Monroe
Shoes. The only thing I love more than makeup, facial creams, lipstick and all the other
delicious products out there I have yet to discover, are Shoes. Capital S.
What is it about shopping for shoes? That new shoe smell, the perfectness in their
newness, the knowing just how they would fit flawlessly in that empty space in my closet? The outfits begin to slideshow through my head picking the ones that these
particular shoes were made for.
(notice the pair that still have tags on!)
I know why most women own too many shoes. Wait! Before you start screaming, “how
can you own too many shoes?” let me explain. It’s been proven that at least half the
shoes in most women’s closets are not worn. Why? Because it’s easy, easy to buy shoes.
Wearing them is where it gets hard.
I buy lots of shoes at Target. Most of their shoes are middle of the road kinds of shoes.
You buy a pair, you don’t really feel guilty, you wear them a few times then they get
relegated to the back of the shoe line.
Why is that? I think quantity over quality is the difficulty here. You don’t have to love,
love the shoes at Target or sale shoes to buy them. They are like chocolate. Hersey’s is
good for a chocolate fix but a box of Godiva’s? Heaven.
Expensive shoes are the ones you dream about. (Really.) Every time I see Christian
Louboutin’s with those delicious red soles I feel all edgy, I just want to put them on my
feet and dance. They taunt you, it’s maddening. They are the Aston Martins of shoes.
Anyway, back to reality.
My new shoe love affair is a brand called Sole Society. Cheaper shoes are sugar but
better priced shoes are the ones you’ll wear the most, will be more comfortable and will
last longer. This is what you’ll find with Sole Society shoes. I feel so confident you will
love this brand too, click on this link and you will get a $25 off your first purchase!

Someday, maybe I’ll buy those Christian Louboutin’s. But….isn’t wanting after all, better
than having? I can get my sugar fix with bargain shoes, dream about dancing down the streets of Paris in those luscious red soled Louboutin’s, but what really satisfies the
pleasure centers of my brain are well-made shoes like Sole Society, just expensive
enough to feel a little guilty.
Gotta go…need to do some house keeping….that shoe closet needs to be dusted (and rearranged).
I still have my rack too!! And I just ordered some j crew leopard ballet flats off eBay:)! I no longer but cheap shoes. Except for flip flops. I have fewer shoes than before but only buy THE best and wear the crap out of them. My new fashion philosophy since I don’t have time to shop in store sale racks anymore. It’s actually working out well. I don’t buy or keep anything unless I can’t live without it and I avoid clearance, it usually made its way there for a reason. I can’t believe I just said that. Maybe it’s because I don’t wear a size 2 anymore, not everything looks bomb no matter what. Shopping for the wittle one is a whole other ball game. I’d rather shop for her than myself, but don’t feel bad for me, wardrobe isn’t suffering too much:). I love I can vent my fashion woes on your blog and not sound completely superficial! Sort of.
Laura, I love that you vent your fashion anything to me! You practically raised me to learn fashion! Remember what I used to look like! lol
I am still on the world wide search for the Ballet Toms…I should buy off Ebay more often!
